Following the success of the highly acclaimed Reference 1 mono-block power amplifier, Audio Space proudly presents the first Reference Series pre-amplifier – Reference-2. The reference grade pre-amp had been under development for several years until a prototype was first debuted at the AV Show 2005 in China. In the following year it was publicly voiced for the first time in the 2006 Hong Kong Hi-End Audio Visual Show which drew immediate praises from audiophiles from around the world. By the end of 2006, after further refinements, the performance of Reference-2 was deemed to have exceeded all design goals set forth by the Chief designer Peter Lau. In January 2007, Reference-2 was released worldwide.

Reference-2 is the first 300B based true balance pre-amplifier the world has seen. The inspiration of Reference-2 chief designer Peter Lau was to bring about a world-class pre-amplifier that would embrace and accentuate the very essence and exquisite musicality of the majestic 300B. Such pre-amp not only would provide a perfect match for the renowned Reference-1 mono-block power amplifier, but also serve as an excellent front-end for tube gear of any make, and would be particularly a superb choice to team with high-end solid-state power amplifiers, adding meticulous warmth and harmonic richness to the system that are distinctive to top rate vacuum tube amplifiers

Pre-amp section is where signal source is processed and sound shaping begins. When it comes to noises (or lack thereof), soundstage, timbre, layering, imaging, musicality, etc. it is pre amplifiers that contribute the most to all of the aforementioned virtues in musical playbacks. In general, the more the audio circuitry situated in the front of the signal path, the greater the effect it has on the overall result of a playback. Naturally, pre-amp is where you want to put your focus on.

Reference-2 takes the way preamp is done a few notches higher! It is the first 300B based preamp that has successfully conquered the notorious hum noise level and microphonics that many have previously attempted to solve but failed. The systems noise level is under an astounding 150uV, making it the quietest and the first True Balance 300B preamp in the world.

Reference-2 has a built-in phono stage that support both MC and MM cartridges. The MC stage features gain control and variable impedance matching for different cartridges.

Besides its obvious versatility, it has unmatched ability to reproduce the highest degree of transparent details in full range, soundstage with width and depth, and pin-point imaging and layering.
